RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
is a process through which adults are fully
initiated into the Catholic Faith. The entire parish
community is responsible for the initiation of its newest
members and the RCIA is the Church’s normal way of welcoming
them.
The RCIA is a journey of conversion and is
the way for the unbaptized to know Jesus through the parish
community. However, it can also be adapted for use as a
process for those that are already baptized in another
Christian denomination (adults and children over seven years
of age) to become fully initiated into the Catholic
Christian Community.
The RCIA is also open to those in the
Catholic faith, but not catechized and for those members of
the Parish who feel the need to renew and recommit
themselves to Jesus Christ and to complete their Sacraments
of Initiation (e.g. Confirmation and Eucharist).
Our bishops tell us that the PCIA is to be a
“Journey of Conversion for the entire parish.” When the
members of the parish support, pray for, guide and celebrate
with those in the RCIA process, everyone experiences some
kind of conversion themselves.
Prayerfully consider how you might be
involved in this most important journey of forming and
renewing discipleship in Jesus Christ. Any adult who is
interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith is
invited to join our RCIA process. Weekly sessions will be
starting on Tuesday September 30th, in the School
Music Room. For information please call Sue Shaffer at our
Faith Formation Office at 412-931-3670.
